About Us

Prior to the explosion of television, magazine ads were the only way of visually advertising a product effectively.  Newspapers didn’t have the ability to produce sharp colors and you couldn’t really see much on a radio ad.

Until the mid-1950s many of these ads were painted by commercial artists, many of whom became celebrities in their own right.  Norman Rockwell, of course, is the best known but there were many others.

Photography eventually took over the lion’s share of advertising artwork, especially on ads involving celebrities.  And, while not quite as evocative of the “good old days” they are not without their charms.

On this site you'll find hundreds of ads for sale in several different categories.  Click on a category in the blue section above.  Prices vary depending on demand, condition and other factors.
