Sport Magazine, April 1968, Bobby Hull Cover
Hockey players didn’t often grace the cover of Sport Magazine (once a year maybe) but Bobby Hull was one of the few players thought to be marketable in the United States (as witnessed by his participation in the Jantzen swim suit ad campaign).
Sport was launched in September 1946 by New York-based publisher Macfadden Publications. It pioneered the generous use of color photography. A monthly magazine Sport was published continually August 2000.
In addition to an internal story on Hull (and a color portrait), this magazine contains several other interesting stories including the feuding Minnesota Twins, Juan Marichal at the crossroads, New York Yankee pitcher Jim Bouton’s return to the minor leagues, a basketball battle between Elvin Hayes and UCLA’s Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), and a look at the NCAA hockey championship with a photo of young Cornell goalie Ken Dryden and his coach Ned Harkness.
Condition- Complete and excellent.
