History- edited from various sources- Ken Riley began work as an illustrator of pulp fiction in 1941 but, with the entry of the United States into World War II later that year, he enlisted and was sent to the Pacific as a war artist.  Following the war, Riley found fame as an illustrator, starting with The Saturday Evening Post and later working with Life and National Geographic.  He was commissioned by the U.S. Park Service to create several paintings of the Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.  During that time, he decided to devote his work solely to Western subjects, opened a studio in Tucson and specialized in scenes from the southwest United States.  He was a member of the Cowboy Artists of America.  One of his paintings, The Whites of Their Eyes, depicting the Battle of Bunker Hill, was acquired by President John F. Kennedy for the White House collection.
